Season of Giving.

These past two days I've been fortunate enough to be asked to cover two special events. Sacramento Kings players DeMarcus Cousins and Ben McLemore hosted two different shopping sprees for kids at Wal-Mart. It was a great joy to take part in both of these amazing events and see the happiness on the kids' faces as they got to load up their carts!

On Sunday night DeMarcus Cousins went out and helped kids pick toys in the toy aisle. He definitely towered over not only the kids... but everyone there! Cousins has been getting over a very nasty virus, but he took the time to make sure he came out to this event.

It was a really crazy night on Sunday. The store was packed with people. I was amazed at how many people came out for the event. Volunteers that night got special Santa Cuz shirts with the DMC logo on the back - they are pretty sweet. I got one too!

All the kids had the chance to get a photo with DeMarcus. It was nice to see many of the kids show their appreciation for their gifts. 'Tis better to give than to receive - that is SO true.

On Monday night Kings player Ben McLemore hosted a smaller group of kids for his shopping spree event. The atmosphere was more intimate and less hectic. It was a nice change of pace from the previous day.

Again, the families came out and enjoyed a night of shopping. It was awesome to see kids and their parents enjoying the time out at the store. Big props to Pizza Guys too for providing a delicious pizza meal before the shopping experience.

Slamson and Kings MC Scott Freshour were both in attendance to help facilitate the night. Both of these guys really bring the energy wherever they are. Slamson always hams it up and there is never a dull moment with Scott. Two of the Kings best right here alongside Ben!

Here's a selfie I took with fellow photographer Michelle during the McLemore spree. I heavily used both my Canon 5d mark iii and my Sony Nex-5. Both provided me with excellent coverage. The Nex-5 was really amazing though. The flip screen on that camera allowed me to get many shots I couldn't with a traditional DSLR. I have to really give props to that little workhorse of a camera!
