Vineyard Proposal

Maryann contacted me on behalf of her future son-in-law to capture his wedding proposal at Bogle Vineyards. It was a beautiful day with perfect weather. Maryann had already contacted Bogle and asked for permission to be in their fields. It was the perfect set up, but they just needed someone to be there to capture it… so that’s where I came in! We talked through the entire plan on the phone and I made sure to get to the vineyard early to get ready and in position. I found a nice elevated spot facing the location that they had planned the proposal to be. These moments happen very quickly and tend to go by faster than you think, so I made sure to be ready at all times. I saw the couple start to move from the seating area to the vineyard so I locked the couple into my viewfinder and shot, shot, shot!

Being hidden in these situations is so important. Being hidden allows the couple to fully react without the feeling of being watched. This allows the full, natural emotions to come out. And these are the emotions that I love getting in the photos that I take. There is nothing like getting genuine emotions in a shot. From my vantage point I could tell how happy the both of them were at that very moment. All my images were taken with my Sony 70-200 G-Master lens. This is one of the system’s top performing lenses and is one of my go-to bread and butter tools.

After the initial surprise I always make my way down to the couple and reveal myself. I introduce myself and give the couple my congratulations. At that time we do a quick little mini shoot to really solidify the moment in pictures. The photos taken at this time turn out great for announcements and invitation cards. I work pretty quickly here because I want the couple to enjoy this special moment without me tagging around for too long.

After all was said and done that day Maryann came out with the entire family for a big engagement party. The whole thing was a huge success and a joyous time. I was so happy and honored to be one to capture these moments. I hope that their engagement time is a sweet one and that they enjoy their next big steps… wedding planning!
