Winter Grad Session
Winter grad sessions have a vibe all their own, and I love them. Brooke contacted me for her graduation session last month and we braved a cold Sacramento day for our session. I recommended the area around the Capitol Rose Garden for our session as it is a great location for both photos around nature and a more urban look. The overcast skies on the day of our shoot provided a nice even lighting and a muted tone for the pictures. I loved the colors and the feel of the photos we ended up with.
For this photoshoot I went with my trusty Sony A7rV and 50mm 1.2 G Master combination. This combination of camera and lens is reliable, fast, and most importantly, produces amazing image quality. Brooke and I were able to work quickly and got many poses during our time together. The colder weather on the day of our shoot also helped clear the area a bit so that there weren’t many people about. It’s like we had the whole area to ourselves!
My goal is always to make the person in front of the camera as relaxed as possible. My sessions are always breezy and swift as I give a lot of posing suggestions. Brooke was telling me that she was not a confident person in front of the camera, but I honestly couldn’t tell. She followed my directions extremely well and her energy was great. It really came through in the photos we were able to capture. She has an amazing smile and vibrant personality. It shows in our results!
If there is an opportunity to capture a few artistically driven pictures I’ll always go for it. Photographers love reflections and when I saw this huge window I just had to snap a few shots of Brooke in front of it. Photos like these help round out the batch of images as they add a nice variety to the group. It’s one of my goals to offer my clients different looks and angles that they may not have expected to have!
I had such an amazing session with Brooke! I’m so glad she found me and had me as her photographer. With her amazing personality, I’m sure she is going to be a huge success at her future job. If you’re looking for a fun and enjoyable graduation session, please contact me! I’d love to work with you!
