Wedding at Winchester Estate
It was a pleasure to provide photography services for Katelyn and Shiloh’s wedding at Winchester Estates by Wedgewood Weddings. The Winchester Estate is a little past Auburn when coming from the Sacramento area. It is a beautiful location situated at a higher elevation that has gorgeous views of redwoods all around. This was my first time at this location and I was very impressed with the scenery as well as the beauty of the building itself. The Winchester Estate is elegant as well as modern. It’s perfect for a small to medium sized wedding such as Katelyn and Shiloh’s.
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect on the wedding day. This was an early evening wedding so having the sun begin to dip down to golden hour was just perfect for photography purposes. Today I used my familiar Sony set-up with the amazing 50mm G-Master 1.2 lens and 70-200 G-Master 2.8. The 50mm has become my favorite ‘normal’ lens and the telephoto has always been my bread and butter for weddings. A lot of photographers like to use a 24-70 2.8 for general shooting at weddings but I find so much more character with the two lenses I choose to use.
I thought it was super-cute to incorprate their dog into the ceremony. He was in a tux and everything! With such an important member of the family I was sure to get some great shots of him. Being such a good boy, it wasn’t hard to capture him in great poses and looks. Some of my personal favorite photos was of our k-9 friend.
I thought that both Kately and Shiloh looked amazing on their wedding day. They had told me they are awkward in front of the camera, but I didn’t feel that at all. They were really fun to work with and I totally felt them warming up more and more as we shot more. We were able to capture many natural moments of the happy couple during the evening.
Of course we can’t forget about the details. An important part of taking wedding photos is making sure to capture stunning photos of the set-up. A personal favorite of mine is to make sure couples get really awesome photos of their cakes. The wedding cake is such a big part of the wedding tradition and to capture it well is of the utmost importance.
The entire night was simply amazing. We loved spending time with this special couple and their friends. As the evening went on we got to see all the love and happiness shared between them all.
