In-Home NewBorn Session

Kyle contacted me about a year ago for a maternity session with his wife. I remember that shoot very clearly as we shot at a gorgeous park area in Roseville. Well, between that time and now they had their baby and Kyle asked me to come to their home for a session with their newborn. In-home newborn sessions are great because it provides my clients with the comfortability of staying at their location and allowing their child to be their most comfortable. It’s a great way to really capture authentic moments that will be remembered always as well. I just bring in a few pieces of photographic equipment and we are set to shoot!

A must-have shot during the session is a great family portrait. Being Christmas time, Kyle and has family was decked out in their Christmas jammies. They all looked super cozy, so I had them sit on their couch for their portrait. Shooting a great portrait requires good lighting, and typical homes don’t really have that so I make sure to set up my own lights for the portrait shot. Our final result looked amazing and exuded the love that this family has for each other.

Besides more formal poses, I always have the parents simply interact with their children. It’s a fun way to get natural smiles from everyone. The kids always love the attention they get from mom and dad so there are always beautiful smiles to capture at this time. And of course, check out the beautiful lighting. Light is a photographers best friend and really is what makes the photo stand out.

Of course, these sessions are never perfect and kids have their emotions come out. This is totally natural and something that I’ll keep shooting anyways because it’s just part of life! I think it’s important to capture the imperfect moments as well because these are real and authentic. Often times these are the photos that the family will look back and enjoy the most. It can sometimes be frustrating for clients to deal with kid emotions on a photo session, but I think looking back they will be precious memories.

If you’re looking for an in-home session with me, just send me a message! I’m sure we can find a good day and time for me to come and take some great photos of your family. A huge thanks to Kyle for inviting me into his home for this session. I know they’re going to love the final results!
