Mom & Daughter Photos (and Ducks?!?!)

It’s been a busy summer so far. I have a number of photoshoots, but I also decided to do a complete re-vamp of my website. Hopefully you’ve seen it already and am enjoying the new look! Huge thanks to the folks I asked to proof and check the site for any errors or mistakes!

Anyways, this post is about a mother and daughter shoot I did near Putah Creek in Davis. They wanted some beautiful photos together, with one specifically shot for a large canvas in the home. We were able to capture many photos with over 60 hand edited photos delivered in the end. All the photos come in a very high resolution that can easily be made into beautiful prints.

Mitra and her daughter came in matching outfits that helped them stand out from the green and yellow backdrop of the area we were at. As with all my portrait sessions, I take a number of posed and candid photos so that the client ends up with a very nice selection of different photos in the end. I really love posed photos, but it’s often the candid photos that end up being my favorite ones.

Candid shots also let me capture unique angles using lenses that typically aren’t used for portrait photography. In the case above, I was at a medium distance away using my long telephoto lens. It’s a close shot that really fills the frame nicely. I love the expression on both faces here. These are the types of photos that naturally come out of my style of shooting.

At one point in our session every single duck came out of the creek towards us. They came all the way up to us and surrounded us. It made for a funny moment and thankfully Mitra’s daughter loves ducks so she had a great time interacting with them. They were with us for about 5-minutes before losing interest and all walked away down the path.

It was a pleasure photographing Mitra and her daughter. They had a lot of fun and so did I! If you’re looking for any type of photography, please let me know and we’ll set up a good time that works for you!
