Grad Sessions at ANYTIME!

It may be late in the summer, but I’m always down for a graduation session! Brooke contacted me and asked for pricing for her and her four housemates. No matter how many people are in the shoot, I always just charge my standard rate. So families or other friends who want to get some photos taken can all be done in the same session. We take as many photos as you like during the 1.5 hour session time and you have the option of having as many outfit changes as you like too - all for my flat session rate!

For sessions done on a college campus like UC Davis or Sac State, I generally like to walk through the areas that are meaningful to the student. We take photos around places that they spent a lot of time at and then also get plenty of photos wherever I see a picturesque scene. Because lighting can vary depending on the time of the photo session, it’s important to have a good eye to spot places to take photos. A good spot in the morning may not work well later on in the day. In the photo of Brooke above, I remember walking around the UC Davis quad area and stopping everyone for photos because the light there was just too good to pass up. The photo (and video) we captured at that moment are some of my favorites.

Shooting groups can be challenging because having more people in a photograph means having to come up with creative poses. Thankfully, Brooke and her friends were great at listening to the posing directions I had and also came up with a fair share of their own ideas as well.

There are places around UC Davis that have to be stopped at for photographs. These iconic locations are well known to me so I make sure we hit them up during the session. The road leading to Shields Library is one such location. This road is often filled with leaves and debris which can take the attention away from the subject of the photo. I enjoy cleaning up the road using Photoshop so that the image is very clean.

Caps and stoles are perfect for these photo sessions. Most of my clients already have theirs when coming to the session. But don’t fret if you don’t! I have a non-branded stole and cap that you can use in the session if you need it. Just let me know in advance so that I make sure to bring it with me!

I only use the latest and best photography equipment for all the photoshoots that I do. The quality of the equipment like lenses and camera bodies does really matter. The photos have an extra quality to them that make them stand out above the rest. For those of you wondering, I use the latest generation of Sony cameras for both photography and videography. The G-Master line-up of lenses is the top of the line for Sony and that is what I bring with me for every photo session.

Lee wanted to take some photographs in a beautiful bed of flowers. She led the group there and I absolutely loved shooting there. I hadn’t been to this location before on campus… but now that I know where it is, I think I’ll be heading here more often in the future! It’s a great place that provides a soft and golden look during the later part of the day. It’s unique and will produce very special photographs.

All in all we took nearly a two thousand raw photos during our session. Brooke and her friends made really good use of their time together. If you’re interested in a graduation photoshoot (which INCLUDES a social media video as well), let me know! We’ll schedule a time that works for you to get together. Check my graduation page for more info on pricing!
