Rescue, Please. / by Luke Cheng

Yesterday I have the honor of gong to the Sacramento Animal Rescue. I was there to take some photos to help some of their animals get adopted. It was definitely a tremendous opportunity, and I was proud to be a part of it! The facility was extremely nice with very friendly staff all around. Please check out their site here for more information:  www.animalcare.saccounty.net/.

I was very surprised to find that the facility had their own little animal photography studio. It was set up with a backdrop, lighting, and props already! I brought a bunch of gear and equipment, but it turns out I didn't have to use it. That definitely saved quite a bit of time.

My lovely wife Jenn came with me to this shoot and helped take some shots. In fact, the two photos above are hers. She was carrying around the 7d mark ii to capture things behind the scenes. So glad to have her on a shoot with me!

Here's the awesome group of people who came out for the shoot. Huge thanks to Talya (Red Hood) for getting everybody together for this!  For this shoot we had some patriotic steampunk going on as well as an appearance by Captain America himself!

Most of the animals were very well-behaved and oh-so-cuddly! The cats were extremely adorable and friendly - and there were so many of them. If you are entertaining the idea of getting a cat, you owe it to yourself to come to the animal rescue and take a look at them.

Not to be outdone, the dogs were also a lot of fun. My goal today wasn't to have any special poses in mind, but just to capture candid moments with the animals like the one above. Often times the natural and relaxed shots turn out to be the best ones.

The animals came in all shapes and sizes - big and small, short and tall. No matter which you prefer, they are there at the rescue waiting for you to bring them home!

It is so easy to become attached to the animals. I was definitely tempted to bring an animal home myself! They are so lovable!

It was a fantastic shoot. Please take a few moments and see the full gallery of this session on my Cosplay site here.
